Stories beyond the page

Programmes

Experiences to discover, learn and share.

The 1001 Women global initiative is developing books, exhibitions, educational resources and digital storytelling to bring a forgotten legacy into global recognition, and help its stories inspire curiosity, ambition and participation.

In development

One shared heritage. Many ways to encounter it.

Imagine these stories becoming part of everyday learning and mainstream culture. Each programme offers a different way to encounter the women, recognise their achievements and explore what their example could inspire. You can register interest through the Take Part form; dates, locations and availability will be announced as they are confirmed.

For families, readers and schools

Children’s book

A beautifully illustrated introduction to women whose achievements deserve to be more widely known. Clear, age-appropriate storytelling will help children and families encounter contributions to knowledge, culture and public life, and imagine possibilities for their own futures.

The planned children’s book is one programme within the wider 1001 Women initiative. It is a new illustrated introduction for younger readers, separate from the FSTC research sourcebook that informs the historical content. Read about the research and the wider initiative.

Immersive exhibition

A touring experience that brings this legacy into public view. Mosaic imagery, historical narratives, maps, timelines, media and interactive moments will invite visitors to discover women’s achievements and explore the curiosity, creativity and learning their stories can inspire.

The mosaic exhibition image is a proposed concept; the photographs show earlier 1001 Inventions work. Venues, dates, specifications and commercial arrangements will depend on development and discussion with prospective hosts.

Educator guide

Lesson ideas, assemblies, classroom activities, discussion questions and reading prompts will help give these women’s achievements a lasting place in education. Connecting their stories with science, history, literacy and the arts can encourage young people to explore their interests and the contributions they could make.

Resources are in development. Age ranges, formats, language editions and curriculum connections will be confirmed as individual materials are prepared.

Share your learners’ age range, teaching setting, language and the subjects you would like to connect with.

Content creator guide

Short stories, captions, scripts, visuals and guidance are planned to help creators introduce 1001 Women clearly and responsibly. The aim is to bring these histories into mainstream and digital culture, reaching new audiences and opening conversations about young women’s potential today.

The guide will support careful storytelling that distinguishes historical evidence from interpretation. Availability and permissions for individual assets will be confirmed when materials are released.

Tell us about your audience, format, language and the kind of contribution you would like to make.
